Two trips on two wheels
| The topography of Vrådal is favourable for those who wish to see and enjoy the country side on bikes. There are hardly any hills along the shores of Lake Vråvat or Lake Nisser and even the roads of lesser traffic have a metal surface. Bicycles for rent at the hotel. There are two obvious alternatives: 1. The Vråvatn Trip From Vrådal you pedal RV 38 in direction Dalen, and to Nordbø, follow the signs to Osen and turn right as soon as you have passed the lock connecting Nisser with Vråvath. From there on you follow the road on the southern shores of the lake through a friendly scenery with foresclad hills on your lef and the polishet cliffs, small beaches and inviting bays of the lake on your right side. You pass a small power plant and if you are lucky may even see a beaver at work. At Vråliosen you turn right on the RV 38 again and pedal it back to Vrådal. This trip iss approximately 40 km long and is easily feasible between breakfast and lunch. 2. Along Lake Nisser by bike and boat or bus From the hotel you follow RV 41 southwards along the eastern shores of Lake Nisser to Kyrkjebygda. There you embark the tiny cable ferry to the Fjone shore of the lake. Pedal on the western shores of Nisser to Treungen, 40 kilometres from Vrådal. If you do not prefer to pedal on back to Vrådal, you can take the bus back. Ask at the hotel for the timetable. |
