The history of Vrådal Hotel

”Guesthouse Breidablikk” as Vrådal Hotel was called when it first opened in 1931 was hardly anymore than a small guesthouse until 1942, when the daughter of the founder took over the management of the Guesthouse.

The daughter Agnes was to become a legend universally known as “Agnes of Vrådal”. In a generation she managed and developed the Vrådal Turisthotel, as it was called now, with a dedication and hospitality still remembered and talked about.

As Agnes had no children the hotel was put up for sale when she could no longer manage the hotel.

In 1987 the owner of the other hotel in Vrådal, Straand Hotel, bought the hotel, and the hotel was given its present name Vrådal Hotel og Hyttepark.

Straand then built Vrådal Hyttepark (cabins) in the hillside behind the hotel.
