Christmas at Straand Hotel
A warm welcome to celebrate Christmas and New Year with us at the historic Straand Hotel. We are a family-run hotel with long traditions dating back to 1864. We are open on Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year’s Eve, and we look forward to celebrating this holiday with our guests.
At Straand Hotel, we celebrate Christmas according to old, local traditions with good food and atmosphere.

Christmas Eve
We are open on Christmas Eve, and look forward to celebrating this special day with you. The day starts with a Christmas service in the venerable Vrådal Church, and a torchlight procession to Nisseland where we have mulled wine in the black pot. After this, a Christmas aperitif awaits in Straand Bar with a reading of the Christmas gospel by our director Lars Arne Straand, 5th generation hosts, before we enjoy a great Christmas dinner in our cozy and Christmas-decorated restaurant. After Christmas dinner, we have Christmas coziness, Christmas carols and walking around the Christmas tree where we also get a visit from Santa who brings Christmas presents for kind children and adults. We end Christmas Eve by playing up to dancing and having fun with our eminent Christmas band.
Christmas
With us, you can take the ski bus to the ski center every day during Christmas to experience a few days in Vrådal Panorama ski center. You can also enjoy our large Christmas buffet throughout Christmas, Christmas coziness in the fireplace lounge with coffee and homemade clanging, swimming pool, children’s activities, and every evening our eminent Christmas orchestra plays up for dancing and coziness. Other activities in the immediate area include cross-country skiing to Hægefjell from Vrådal Panorama, Sølvsmedtunet with its own Santa ceiling and Christmas stamp, Galleri Samvirke, ice fishing and ice bathing.
New Year's Eve
Enjoy a delicious New Year’s Eve dinner in our restaurant.
Director Lars Arne Straand invites all his hotel guests for a New Year’s cocktail and a start to the New Year’s celebration in Straand bar.
In addition , we will light the big tome with a torchlight procession, ice bathing and Vrådal’s largest fireworks display.
Night food is served in the piano bar after the fireworks and until 01.00
Christmas party
Welcome to our fantastic Christmas parties. We serve our large Christmas buffet with varied Christmas food, entertain and open the doors to our dance bar.

We light a fire in the fire pan under the roof on the terrace every Saturday during the Christmas party season from 4 pm to 6 pm.
