Discovery trip to Fyresdal
From Vrådal, you drive south along beautiful Nisser, Telemark’s largest lake. There are two routes along the water; either on the east side of the main road through the village center of Nissedal, or by cable ferry over to the west side and on the village road along beautiful beaches. Both alternatives end in the center of Treungen.
In Treungen you can visit
the Z museum which has cars, motorcycles, mopeds and collections of oriental carpets, old toys and clothes, etc.
In Treungen there is also Pipo Playground, which is a play center for children.
From Treungen we drive on to Tjønnefoss and from there towards Fyresdal over Våmur (670 m.a.s.l.). The stretch offers wide and magnificent views of Fyresvatnet and Setedalsheiene. You drive along Fyresvatnet all the way to the center of Fyresdal, which is also called Folkestadbyen.
Folkestadbyen has a tourist office, shops and municipal administration, as well as a village museum with traditional buildings and an interesting collection of artefacts.
If time permits, we recommend taking a detour into Kvipt Gjestegard. About 40 minutes drive into the heath you will find this beautiful mountain farm. Here you will find a ceramics workshop, beautiful storehouses, Telemark cows and a café with homemade traditional food.
Back in Fyresdal, the trip continues through beautiful villages, past Skrevatnet with its polished mountainsides and to Vråliosen. Further on, follow Vråvatn, preferably on the west side, back to Vrådal.
