Autumn is one of the most beautiful seasons we have in Vrådal. With us you can live and gather strength, enjoy spending time with family, old and new friends and entertain yourself and others with a rich range of activities – we literally have something for everyone and everyone.
Vrådal is a small, idyllic village located in West Telemark, surrounded by fantastic nature and a beautiful lake. For five generations, we as a family have run, built and developed the hotel for the benefit of our guests. We have established our own traditions and our own identity, today we are proud members of De Historiske. Telemark is in itself a proud bearer of culture and is a region that offers an extensive cultural heritage.
As a guest, you have our full attention and priority. Our offer to guests is presented as three pillars in a HUB that provides an overview and access to the whole. Here are some of the things you can do and experience in Vrådal in the autumn:
Hotel
The hotel has a large range of activities for young and old and has a fantastic location at the north end of the beautiful lake Nisser. Here you can plan an activity holiday or just relax and enjoy good food and drink. We serve good and short-traveled Norwegian food based on traditions in our own region and are happy to take orders if anyone in the group has allergies or special needs. We go to great lengths to ensure that our guests are satisfied and enjoy their stay with us.
Recharge in one of our many traditional living rooms, our beautiful apple orchard, on the roof terrace or in our cozy historic living rooms or our piano bar in the reception area. Throughout the autumn, it is also possible to use trampolines and playground equipment, cycle in a large selection of marked trails, rent a boat, canoe or one of our beautiful kayaks and enjoy the beautiful Lake Nisser.
The veteran boat M/S Fram is our great pride and sails on the lakes Nisser and Vråvatn starting from the pier at Straand. She runs in traffic from May to October with scheduled and sightseeing tours in the beautiful inland archipelago and is a great experience for both young and old. On the boat, it is recommended to try out the well-known waffles and a good cup of coffee. Check the timetables at www.ms-fram.no.
The hotel also has a great pool that maintains a brisk 26 degrees, a popular arena for both children and swimming exercisers if the weather should be a little rough. There is something for absolutely everyone here.
Also take a trip to our good neighbor, silversmith Astrid Søftestad, who both makes jewelry and runs a gift shop a little out of the ordinary. Nisseloftet is a Christmas shop with elves, angels and the most beautiful Christmas baubles, a selection that just has to be experienced and here it is Christmas all year round. Over many years, we have developed a large experience concept for our guests in Vrådal. Amazing Hiking Opportunities
Many of our guests cultivate their interest in hiking in the fantastic mountains we have around us. Here there is a large network of short and longer walks in the forest or mountains.

Adventures by bike
The bicycle is a very popular means of transport in Vrådal. With us you can rent traditional pedal bikes or state-of-the-art E-bikes that give you access to new and absolutely fantastic areas and experiences. We have created great routes for both road driving and off-road and the selection and variation possibilities are many. Some bring their own bike, others want to rent, we can give you access to a rich and varied route network that will satisfy both professional touring cyclists. If you want your own arrangement with logistics support, we are happy to arrange that as well. We are happy to welcome cycling clubs for which we have created our own routes. For the touring cyclist, we can offer great experiences along Nisser or Vråvatn, we have access to cycling routes in the woods and fields, or climbing over beautiful lakes in the high mountains. Refreshing bath
With us, you can swim both outdoors and indoors throughout the autumn. Here, ice bathers can be warmed up or cooled down for the winter by our own outdoor swimming facility or our beautiful indoor pool that maintains a healthy 26 degrees. Baths and saunas can be complemented with refreshing flavors of local food and drink that add a touch to the experiences. We are happy to tailor a program for you and yours.
You can still ride a motorcycle or cultivate your interest in cars in the autumn in beautiful West Telemark
We have perhaps Norway’s most well-developed route network and service offer for motorcyclists. Here you can choose between 15 specially designed HUB riding routes with turn guarantee and absolutely fantastic access routes from east, west, north or south. We have a special service program for the motorcyclist that includes everything from technical support, washing or drying facilities for those who have gotten wet. We have our own roof terrace that is often the gathering point for the autophiles and we have simply become a
Important meeting point for touring motorcyclists and motorists in the sports segment. With us, there is therefore usually a new exhibition in the parking lot every single one

Golf
From the hotel, we look over to one of Norway’s most beautiful 9-hole golf courses, located on Fossøy. Here you can enjoy games on a very well-maintained golf course with its own irrigation system straight from Lake Nisser. Telemarksvegen
The main artery to Vrådal and West Telemark from Southern Norway is Telemarksvegen, RV41 which runs in scenic surroundings from Kristiansand along the Tovdal river and Nidelva up to Treungen, where it follows Nisser further up to Vrådal and the E134 in Brunkeberg.
Along the way you will find picnic areas with sticks carved like the decorations from local cultural monuments such as stave churches, beer hens and rose painting.
Telemark region
Telemark is rich in cultural history and with Straand’s central location, it is easy to reach everyone with eventful stages. The waterways in Telemark, try the exciting Gaustad Railway for a trip to Gaustadtoppen and experience the UNESCO World Heritage Site Rjukan-Notodden industrial heritage to name a few. Dis a mysterious Telemark represented with the stories from Flatdal, Svartdal and Hjartdal, Ulefoss manor (the white jewel) and the locks that take you up to Kviteseid with the old scheduled boats Henrik Ibsen and MS Victoria on the Telemark Canal, which also serve delicious short-distance lunch along the way.
As a region, West Telemark is a very exciting area that has a lot to offer. West Telemark Museum with several locations in the region is the foremost communicator of our cultural history and a journey from museum to museum is an experience in itself. We can be helpful in giving advice and making necessary agreements if needed. Did you know that the west tent was considered very silly?

The fantastic Z-museum in Treungen , with its eras, provides good insight into local history from ancient and modern times.
As our closest neighbor, we have Vrådal’s very unique silversmith, Astrid Søftestad and her smithy and outlet Sølvsmedtunet. She is a culture bearer with good craftsmanship and with enthusiasm makes her own jewelry and traditional silver such as national costume silver. There is also a gift shop and a completely unique Santa loft. Get in the Christmas spirit and send a card to Nissen at Astrid and Erling who run Sølvsmia.
