With ♥ for hiking
In Vrådal we have a lot of nice nature and hikes that are suitable for everyone, right in the local area. We are happy to help you find an afternoon hike along the beautiful Lake Nisser, or a more challenging summit hike?

Hiking in West Telemark
In the village of Vrådal alone, we have many fantastic trips you should have on your “bucket list”. How about a family-friendly trip to Venelifjell, or is it more tempting with a long trip to Hægefjell? Roholtfjell is a great classic. In addition, there are fantastic hiking opportunities elsewhere in West Telemark.
Fossøy Nature and Culture Trail
Take the hike from Historic Straand Hotel over the locks to Fossøy and follow the nature trail around one of the country’s finest 9-hole golf courses.
Along the trail you will find 18 information boards that tell about archaeology, animal and plant life and more. Fossøy is a natural gem that was created during the last ice age with clear marks of Daudis pits. Read more about the trip here!

Summit hike to the majestic mountain peak Hægefjell. The trip offers nice mountain terrain and fantastic views. Hægefjell was formed from magma from the Earth’s interior. The name of the rock type is gneiss granite and this species is the origin of the beautiful sandy beaches that you will find along the entire length of Vråvatn and Nisser. Read more about the trip here.

Jettegrytene in Nissedal is nature’s own water park and a nice day trip for young and old. The incredibly beautiful natural phenomenon can be found in the far south of the municipality, at the small village of Eikhom, a mile from Telemarksvegen.
The potholes are round or long depressions in solid rock and were made from meltwater during the ice age.
