Tour suggestion: The taste of Fjell-Telemark

This round trip from Vrådal over Rauland to Rjukan and back can be summed up with the taste of mountain pastures and driving in beautiful nature!

We start at Straand hotel and head through the cultural landscape and to Rauland.

Stop no. 1: Lega ysteri and bakery

At Lega in Rauland, you get world-class cheese, such as the award-winning goat cheese Stavsfjell – with gold in the World Cheese Awards. Here, the animals graze at an altitude of 930 meters in the summer, which puts its unique taste on the products. At Lega we find both cheese and bakery, café and shop outlet with both cheeses, pizza, bread, baked goods and many other good local food products.

Stop no. 2: Kråkeroe-staulen and Flatdal Meieri

A short drive from Lega we find Kråkeroe-staulen and Flatdal dairy. Here they serve sour cream porridge, waffles and sell farm butter, cheese and other products in the summer. Take a breather in beautiful surroundings in the mountains, watch grazing cows and let the tranquility fill you before the next stage!

Stop No. 3: Selstali seats

Selstali farms are located on the sunny side of the mountain Gaustatoppen approx. 940 meters above sea level and invite you to taste real mountain farm culture – run by the same family for over 100 years. There is no electricity here, but with gas and wood to help, farm butter, prim, sour cream and white cheese are still produced in line with old traditions. At the mountain farm there is also a café where you can enjoy sour cream porridge, swallows, farm food, cured meats and pizza.
